Travel Nurse RN - OR - Operating Room - $2,240 per week

TotalMed RN is a Top Ten travel nursing and healthcare staffing agency with the mission of igniting purpose in healthcare. They staff nurses, therapists, pharmacists, and other clinicians in all 50 states, offering local and travel jobs. TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN for an Operating Room position in Neptune, New Jersey. The assignment is 13 weeks, 36 hours per week on 12‑hour day shifts.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients, providing pre‑ and post‑surgery care and education.
• Provide basic bedside care.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions.
• Serve as communication liaison between patients' family members and the operating team.
• Ensure the correct procedure is performed on the correct patient.
• Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician; teach patients and families how to manage medication and home care needs.
• Additional duties for Circulating OR Nurses: respond to comfort and safety needs of patient; accurate care and handling of specimens; monitor equipment used during surgery; inventory of surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• Additional duties for Scrub OR Nurses: selection and handling of surgical instruments and supplies during procedures; inventory of surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• Additional duties for RN First Assistant: assist physicians by delivering direct surgical care; help control bleeding; suture patients following surgery.

Requirements

• 1‑2 years recent acute care experience as a circulating nurse, scrub nurse, and/or RN first assistant.
• Current BLS certification.
• NIH certification (as noted).
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods, bend, lean and stoop; lift up to 20 lb routinely, with occasional patient lifts up to 50 lb.
• Willingness to work in an environment with potential exposure to chemicals or infectious diseases.

Pay

Pay package is based on 12‑hour shifts and 36.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.
