Travel Nurse RN - OR - Operating Room - $2,151 per week

About the role

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN for an Operating Room position in San Angelo, Texas. This is a 13‑week travel assignment with 40 hours per week (8‑hour day shifts). Immediate opening for an OR RN.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication; report adverse reactions.
• Serve as communication liaison between patients' families and the operating team.
• Ensure the correct procedure is performed on the correct patient.
• Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician; teach patients and families medication and home‑care management.
• Additional duties for Circulating OR Nurses: respond to patient comfort and safety needs; accurate care and handling of specimens; monitor equipment used during surgery; inventory surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• Additional duties for Scrub OR Nurses: select and handle surgical instruments and supplies during procedures; inventory surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• Additional duties for RN First Assistant: assist physicians with direct surgical care; help control bleeding; suture patients following surgery.

Requirements

• 1‑2 years recent acute care experience as a circulating nurse and/or scrub nurse (potential RN first assistant).
• Current BLS certification.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods; bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty.
• Capable of lifting 20 lbs routinely; moving/lifting patients may require up to 50 lbs.
• Willing to work in an environment with exposure to chemicals or infectious diseases.
• Additional certifications may be required before assignment.
