Travel Nurse RN - OR - Operating Room - $2,121 per week

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN for an Operating Room position in West Burlington, Iowa. The assignment starts 11/09/2026, lasts 13 weeks, with 35 hours per week on 10‑hour day shifts.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients, providing pre‑ and post‑surgery care and education.
• Function as a circulating OR nurse (outside sterile field) or scrub OR nurse (inside sterile field), or RN first assistant as needed.
• Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications; report adverse reactions.
• Serve as communication liaison between patients’ families and the operating team.
• Ensure correct procedure is performed on the correct patient.
• Initiate patient education plans as prescribed by physicians.
• Additional circulating duties: respond to patient comfort and safety needs, handle specimens accurately, monitor surgical equipment, inventory surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• Additional scrub duties: select and handle surgical instruments and supplies during procedures, inventory surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• Additional RN first assistant duties: assist physicians with direct surgical care, help control bleeding, suture patients post‑surgery.

Requirements

• Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications.
• Minimum 2 years recent acute care experience as a circulating nurse, scrub nurse, and/or RN first assistant.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty.
• Capable of lifting 20 pounds routinely; patient handling may require lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Willingness to work in an environment with exposure to chemicals and infectious diseases.
