About the role

Travel RN position in a Level 2 Special Care Nursery (32 weeks and above) at JFKUMC. The Registered Nurse evaluates patients, assists physicians, plans and documents nursing care, develops individualized care plans, performs therapeutic interventions, manages patient care, advocates for evidence-based practice, and provides patient-centric care aligned with the professional nursing practice model.

Responsibilities

• Plans, implements, and documents nursing care based on patient needs
• Identifies patient needs and determines priorities for care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation
• Develops, implements, and coordinates individualized plan of care through initial and ongoing assessments
• Initiates assessment based on patient problems/needs, physician medical diagnosis, and functional health framework
• Performs therapeutic nursing interventions
• Manages care of patients
• Documents care based on standards of care, patient acuity, and clinical priorities
• Advocates for evidence-based practice care standards and supports adoption of evidence-based practices and innovations
• Provides patient-centric care in alignment with professional nursing practice model
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 3+ years of Mother/Baby experience required; must have experience caring for newborns. Required years of experience: 2 (preferred: 2). Must have at least one year in a Level 2 SCN.
• Clinical skills: Competent in managing higher acuity infants 32 weeks and above; competent in stabilizing infants less than 32 weeks. Required skills: Special Care Nursery, Mother Baby, NICU.
• Certifications & licenses: NRP and BLS required (BLS must be AHA); NJ State Professional Registered Nurse license or multi-state compact license.
• Education: Required: ASN. Preferred: BSN.

Schedule

• Shift: 3x12-hour days (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
• Hours per week: 36
• Weekend requirement: Yes (every other weekend as needed)
• Holiday requirement: As needed
• On-call requirement: No
• Float requirement: As needed (only for taking babies on postpartum)

Pay

Pay package based on 12-hour shifts and 36.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
