About the role

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse position in a Level II Special Care nursery. This role involves caring for neonates 32 weeks gestational age and above, including babies on CPAP, High Flow, Feeder-Grower, R/S Sepsis, and Hyperbilirubinemia. The position is scheduled for night shifts and requires a minimum of 2 years of NICU experience, with a preference for Level 3 NICU experience.

Schedule

  • 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Three weekend shifts per month and holiday coverage required
  • Self-scheduling allowed
  • Cancellation policy allows up to 4 shifts cancellation per 13-week assignment

Responsibilities

  • Care for neonates 32 weeks gestational age and above
  • Manage neonates on CPAP, High Flow, Feeder-Grower, R/S Sepsis, and Hyperbilirubinemia
  • Evaluate monitor strips with referrals as needed (no monitor techs on staff)
  • Start all IVs independently (dedicated neonatal PICC team available)
  • Participate in float rotation, which may include a sister facility

Requirements

  • BLS Certification
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • STABLE certification
  • Minimum of 2 years of NICU experience (preferably Level 3)
  • Certification licenses must be submitted; willing to wait for license processing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with high acuity neonatal patients, including use of CPAP and High Flow ventilation

Unit Details

  • 12 licensed neonatal beds, with an average census of 10
  • Charge nurse manages high-risk deliveries but usually does not have an assignment
  • Support staff includes a PCT/HUC who can assist with neonatal patient care
  • In-house 24/7 NNPs (Neonatal Nurse Practitioners) and Pediatricians on call
  • Nurses do not titrate drips
