Travel Nurse RN - Neurology - $1,990 per week

Job Summary

The medical surgical neurology floor nurse position is based in Decatur, Illinois. This role involves providing specialized nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with neurological conditions, including cerebrovascular accidents, post-neurosurgery recovery, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injuries. The position requires a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced, level II trauma-certified acute care hospital environment.

Job Details

• Shift: 12-hour days
• Schedule: 36 hours per week, starting from 08/24/2026

Required Qualifications

• Valid Illinois nursing license
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
• At least 2 years of nursing experience
• Previous experience on medical-surgical neurology floors

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in trauma level II settings
• Cerner charting system proficiency
• Prior work in teaching hospitals

Additional Job Responsibilities

• Managing neurological patient conditions
• Monitoring cranial and spinal drains
• Administering IV therapies including heparin and insulin
• Utilizing telemetry and rapid response teams
• Managing surgical drains
• Ensuring patient safety with isolation precautions and wound care

Special Requirements

• Experience with cardiac monitoring
• Gastrointestinal care
• IV therapy
• Medication administration
• Neurological case management
• Proficient with Cerner electronic health records
• Complying with hospital protocols and safety standards

Travel Experience

The assignment includes working every other weekend, with a flexible RTO (Request for Time Off) of up to 5 days. Open to float: Yes, within scope to meet patient and unit needs.
