About the role
Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical Surgical with Telemetry at a healthcare facility in Marshfield, Wisconsin. This role involves providing high-quality patient care on a 29-bed unit with a focus on abdominal surgeries, ear/nose/throat surgeries, complex wounds, and general medical conditions. The position features night shifts, every-other-weekend (EOW) requirements, and a structured orientation program to ensure clinical excellence.
Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts with a minimum of 36 hours per week
- Every-other-weekend and holiday shifts
- Possible 48-hour shift options
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality patient care on a 29-bed unit specializing in abdominal surgeries, ear/nose/throat surgeries, complex wounds, and general medical conditions
- Manage patient care involving IVs, drains, ostomies, wound vacs, NG tubes, Foley catheters
- Utilize Electronic Health Record systems
- Titrate drips such as Heparin, insulin, diltiazem, and amiodarone
- Participate in AUTO OFFER process and complete a 12-hour computer-based training and 12-hour shadowing orientation
- Float to other medical/surgical units as needed
- Clock in and out at the facility
Requirements
- BLS (AHA) certification
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in acute care settings
- Valid nursing license
- Candidates must reside within 80 miles of the facility
- Candidates who have previously worked for Marshfield must have an end date at least six months prior to submission
Preferred Qualifications
- ACLS certification
- Intermediate Care background
- Experience with IVs, drains, ostomies, wound vacs, NG tubes, Foley catheters
- Experience with Electronic Health Record systems
- Experience titrating drips such as Heparin, insulin, diltiazem, and amiodarone
Operational Details
- Unit has Nurse Aides at ratios of 1:8 (days) and 1:14 (nights)
- Equipment & Monitoring: Cpap, Bipap, Vapotherm, occasional tracheostomy care (no vents)
- Telemetry monitoring managed by techs who record rhythms in the Electronic Health Record system; RNs are not required to read telemetry strips
