About the role

The organization is seeking an experienced Medical Surgical with Telemetry registered nurse for a contract assignment at a medical center located in Marion, Illinois. This role involves providing direct patient care on a specialized neuro unit, with a focus on neuro and neuro-surgical patients. The position requires strong assessment, critical thinking skills, and the ability to manage a diverse patient population in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform neuro assessments including NIHSS/dysphagia screens
• Manage IV therapies and administer blood/blood products
• Manage drains
• Care for neuro and neuro-surgical patients including CVAs, elective back/neck surgeries, and cerebral angiograms
• Take medical overflow patients as needed
• Float to medical unit if required

Requirements

• Current active Illinois RN license
• AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
• NIHSS certification
• Two years of strong Medical Surgical/Telemetry experience
• At least one travel assignment completed
• Neuro experience required
• Recent EPIC charting experience
• Associate Degree or Certificate required; Bachelor's Degree preferred

Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts
• Minimum of 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend and holiday rotation
• On-call and call back not required
• Shifts start on 08/10/2026

Unit Information

• Neuro unit with 22 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
• Charge nurse will have patient assignments
