This role requires experienced nurses to work on a dedicated neuro unit, adhering to specialized protocols and managing critical patient needs. Job Details Position Description: Unit notes emphasize neuro-medical surgical care, including stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, head injury, and neuroscience patients. Certifications and Qualifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS, active Illinois license or application initiation required. Minimum one year of relevant experience, with prior neuro unit and level 1 trauma experience preferred. Schedule: Shift is days, 12 hours per shift, with minimum 36 hours per week. Duties and Responsibilities: Manage patient care in a neuro-medical surgical setting, including titration of heparin drips based on PTT, reading telemetry monitors (Phillips), troubleshooting high flow oxygen devices for stable COVID patients, and working within established nurse/patient ratios across shifts. Additional Requirements: Must have prior travel experience; not suitable for first-time travelers. Must understand that this unit operates with a charge nurse team 24/7, and float rotation may be required. Nurses are expected to read telemetry strips and support unit-specific protocols during orientation.
