Travel Nurse RN - Med Surg / Telemetry - $1,880 per week

About the role

• 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Weekend rotation: 5–6 weekend shifts out of every 12 shifts on a 6-week schedule cycle
• No on-call responsibilities
• Holiday expectations: work one shift of each major holiday (Thanksgiving Day or day after, 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1)
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Tele RN experience required; first-time travelers accepted
• Patient ratio: RN 1:4–6, LPN 1:4–6, CNA 2–3 per shift
• Float to all adult med-surg/telemetry units within the facility as needed
• Scrub color: Navy for RNs, Ceil Blue for LPNs

Responsibilities

• Care for patients with common diagnoses: heart failure, A-Fib, acute/chronic kidney injury, respiratory failure, COPD, asthma, NSTEMI, sepsis, diabetes
• Care for post-op surgery and post cardiac procedure patients
• Perform trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucommander, insulin drips, heparin drips, IV insertion and care, central line management, wound care, post-op monitoring, groin management, Foley insertion and care, cardiac monitoring, and telemetry interpretation
• Provide strong clinical assessment in a Level 1 Trauma Hospital setting
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams, plan discharges, and deliver patient education

Requirements

• BLS certification (required)
• BCR (Basic Cardiac Rhythm) – must pass an EKG competency exam
• ACLS preferred
• Medical-Surgical nursing national certification preferred but not required

Facility & Equipment

637-bed Level 1 Trauma and teaching hospital with Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center. The 30-bed Med Surg/Tele unit is supported 24/7 by CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurses, a PICC team, discharge nurses, resource team floats, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, intensivists, and a Central Telemetry Unit.

Pay

Estimated gross weekly pay: $1,880 plus a $500 contract-completion bonus.
