About the role

Travel nursing position in Newburgh, Indiana. No local candidates within a 40-mile radius. Clinical interview required.

  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • Start date: August 24 with bi-weekly orientation
  • Guaranteed hours: 36 (48 hours available upon request)
  • Shift: 12-hour days, 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Float requirement: First to float within skillset. Potential to float to Deaconess Midtown (IN, 8 miles away) and Deaconess Henderson (KY, 11 miles away). 2-hour notice for cross-campus float. Mid-shift float within the same campus is possible; cross-campus mid-shift float is unlikely but possible.
  • Weekend/holiday requirement: Three weekends out of every six-week schedule. Every other holiday.
  • Teaching hospital; may require precepting students and new hires.
  • Scrub color: Navy blue. No competing health system or agency logos.
  • Three call-ins can result in termination.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care for a combination of medical and surgical patients, including but not limited to: confusion/BH/CIWA, CHF, COPD, UTI, cellulitis, sepsis, amputations, decubitus ulcers, and general surgeries.
  • Perform IV fluid and antibiotic therapies.
  • Conduct strong medical and post-surgical assessments.
  • Manage heparin gtts., wounds, wound vacs, and basic telemetry.
  • Potential to precept students and new hires.

Requirements

  • Current active compact nursing license.
  • AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications (must be attached upon submittal).
  • Minimum experience: Two years of strong Med/Surg, one travel assignment, and trauma level II experience.
  • Recent EPIC experience required (checkoff class will be required).

  • Unit: D500 – 32 beds, increasing to 37 in January 2025.
  • Patient ratio: Not specified.
  • Unit strengths: New leadership, amazing teamwork, and experienced charge nurses.
  • Ideal candidate: Hard worker, resilient, manages change well, and social.
