About the role
Malone Healthcare - Nursing is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Newburgh, Indiana.
Responsibilities
- Provide medical-surgical nursing care on a 32-bed unit (increasing to 37 beds January 2025) combining medical and surgical patients
- Manage patient populations including confusion/BH/CIWA, CHF, COPD, UTI, cellulitis, sepsis, amputations, decubitus ulcers, and general surgeries
- Administer IV fluid/antibiotic therapies, heparin gtts, wound/wound vac care, and basic tele monitoring
- Float first within skillset to Deaconess Midtown (IN) campus (8 miles apart) and potentially to Deaconess Henderson (KY, 11 miles) with 2-hour notice for cross-campus float
- Work 12-hour day shifts (6:30-7:00)
- Participate in weekend coverage: three weekends out of every six-week schedule
- Work every other holiday
- May be required to precept students and new hires at this teaching hospital
Requirements
- Current active compact license
- AHA BLS certification
- NIHSS certification
- Minimum two years of strong Med/Surg experience
- At least 1 prior travel assignment
- Trauma level II experience
- Recent EPIC charting experience (checkoff class required)
- No local candidates (40-mile radius rule applies)
