About the role
We are seeking an experienced Med/Surg/ED Registered Nurse (RN) for an urgent night-shift travel assignment in a small, fast-paced hospital. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of recent acute-care nursing experience and be comfortable providing care across Med/Surg, Emergency Department, observation, swing-bed, and outpatient infusion settings. The unit has 6 Med/Surg beds and 3 ER beds, and uses Athena EMR.

- Pneumonia
- UTI / Altered Mental Status (AMS)
- Failure to Thrive
- Post-operative orthopedic patients
- Acute medical conditions requiring ED evaluation and observation
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to Med/Surg and ED patients.
- Assess patients, monitor vital signs, and recognize changes in condition.
- Care for inpatient, observation, and swing-bed patients.
- Provide emergency nursing care and assist with stabilization of ED patients.
- Care for post-operative orthopedic patients.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and other prescribed treatments.
- Provide outpatient infusion services as required.
- Assist with and monitor patients undergoing procedural sedation.
- Maintain accurate documentation in Athena EMR.
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Maintain patient safety and follow hospital policies and clinical standards.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience
- Recent Med/Surg and/or ED experience
- Experience with inpatient, observation, swing-bed, or emergency patients preferred
- Ability to work independently in a smaller hospital/unit environment
Qualifications
- BLS – AHA (required)
- ACLS – AHA (required)
- PALS – AHA (required)
- TNCC – Required
- AHA Procedural Sedation Module – Required

Schedule
