Travel Nurse RN - Med Surg - $2,340 per week

About the role

Travel RN position in Med Surg at a regional hospital in Wausau, Wisconsin. The assignment is a 13‑week travel contract starting 5 October 2026, with a 36‑hour work week on 12‑hour day or night shifts.

Schedule

• 12‑hour variable day and night shifts (7:00 AM–7:00 PM or 7:00 PM–7:00 AM)
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Every other weekend and holiday rotation required
• Low‑census hours may be reduced in 4‑hour increments per shift as needed

Responsibilities

• Provide pre‑ and post‑surgical care for adult and geriatric patients on a 40‑bed Post Surgical Care Unit
• Float to all inpatient units as needed
• Maintain nurse‑to‑patient ratios of 1:4 or 1:5 on days/evenings and 1:5 to 1:7 at night
• Manage a fast‑paced unit averaging 10–15 admissions per day with 90–95 % occupancy and an average length of stay of 2–3 days
• Multitask and prioritize patient care based on acuity while working as part of a team

Requirements

• Minimum 2 + years of Med Surg experience with recent hospital experience
• Trauma Level II experience
• Prior travel nursing experience
• Epic EMR experience
• WI RN license
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC)

Qualifications

• Associate Degree or Nursing Certificate required
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Skills & Equipment

• Proficiency with Epic EMR
• Use of medication‑scanning rovers
• Operation of Alaris infusion pumps

Pay

Estimated gross weekly pay of $2,340 plus a $500 contract completion bonus. Pay package is based on 12‑hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with additional tax‑free stipends.
