About the role

Medical Surgical Floor Nurse located in Lebanon, New Hampshire. This position involves caring for adult surgical patients on a fast-paced medical surgical unit, primarily serving trauma and acute care surgical cases. The role requires providing high-quality patient support in a busy environment that includes trauma, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and various surgical diagnoses such as hernia repairs and bowel obstructions. The unit cares for trauma patients including those with spinal cord injuries and traumatic brain injuries, with some negative pressure rooms available for COVID-19 patients. The unit emphasizes rehabilitating and supporting patient needs in a busy, high-acuity environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for adult surgical patients, including trauma and acute care cases
• Manage patients with spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and complex surgical diagnoses
• Handle chest tubes, tubes, drips (such as Diltiazem, heparin, Lasix, insulin, or amiodarone)
• Manage post-surgical lines, tubes, drains, and Trachs/Laryngectomies
• Monitor telemetry and manage complex wounds
• Perform central lines care and maintenance, including blood draws

Requirements

• Valid RN license (NH RN License or Compact License with proof of state residency)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Minimum of 1.5 years of recent equivalent experience in a medical surgical environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a Level I Trauma center or several years at a Level II Trauma center
