About the role

Medical Surgical Floor RN position in Wausau, WI. This role involves providing high-quality care in a transient post-surgical unit specializing in adult and geriatric patient recovery. The position requires dedication to patient-centered care within a fast-paced environment, supporting both pre- and post-surgical needs.

This role is within a 40-bed inpatient post-surgical care unit that offers a continuum of care for adult and geriatric patients pre- and post-surgery. The unit experiences high admission volumes, with 10-15 patients admitted daily and an occupancy rate of 90-95%. The RN must efficiently multitask and prioritize based on acuity. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:4 or 1:5 during day shifts and 1:5 to 1:7 during night shifts. Scrub color is flexible. During flu season, vaccinated travelers who decline COVID-19 vaccination are required to wear masks at all times.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a post-surgical unit.
• Support pre- and post-surgical needs in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• WI Registered Nurse (RN) License.
• Basic Life Support (AHA or ARC) certification.
• Minimum of 2+ years of Medical Surgical (Med Surg) experience.
• Recent hospital experience.
• Trauma Level II experience.
• Epic charting experience.

WI RN License and BLS certification must be attached upon submission.

Schedule

• 12-hour day shifts from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week.
