Job Summary

The Medical Surgical (MS) specialty is located in HILO, Hawaii. This position involves floating between various medical and surgical units within the facility, providing patient care on a 12-hour night shift schedule. The role requires adherence to specific unit protocols and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team to ensure quality patient outcomes.

Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts (18:45 to 07:15), scheduled for 36 hours per week following the initial orientation period
• No guarantee of hours

Required Qualifications

• Valid Hawaii state licensure
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• 0+ years of experience

Preferred Qualifications

• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• Procedural Sedation
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)

Unit Information

• Medical Unit (77 beds)
• Laulima Surgical Acute Unit (18 beds)
• Cardiovascular Unit (15 beds)

Nurse to Patient Ratio

• Medical - 1:6 (day and evening shifts), 1:8 (night shift)
• Laulima - 1:6
• Cardiovascular - 1:4
• Ratios may vary due to unexpected leaves

• Meditech Electronic Medical Records
• Pyxis medications
• Wound vacuums
• Chest tubes

Additional Information

• Orientation is provided for each unit
• Candidates must arrive the Thursday before the start date for an employee health appointment
