Travel Nurse RN - Med Surg - $2,000 per week

About the role

Medical Surgical Floor (MS) registered nurse in an urban healthcare setting. This position involves providing comprehensive patient care on a 23‑bed unit with a focus on cardiac, neurologic, post‑surgical, and general medical conditions. The role requires strong assessment and critical thinking skills, with bedside responsibilities during 12‑hour day shifts. Located in Midtown, Evansville, Indiana. Assignment runs from start date 10/05/2026 to end date 01/03/2027 (13 weeks).

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive patient care on a 23‑bed Medical Surgical unit.
• Focus on cardiac, neurologic, post‑surgical, and general medical conditions.
• Perform bedside assessments and critical thinking during 12‑hour day shifts.
• May be required to precept students and new hires.
• Float to Deaconess Newburgh (IN) campus as first‑in‑skill‑set, with potential to float to Deaconess Henderson (KY); cross‑campus float with 2‑hour notice; mid‑shift float within same campus.
• Adhere to scrubs policy: navy blue scrubs, no hoodies or sweatshirts, no competing logos.
• Work three weekends per six‑week schedule and every other holiday.

Requirements

• Current active compact RN license.
• AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications.
• Minimum two years of strong Medical‑Surgical nursing experience.
• Recent EPIC charting experience.

Skills

• Strong patient assessment and critical thinking.
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record.
• Ability to work 12‑hour day shifts.

Pay

Pay package based on 12‑hour shifts and 36.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.

Schedule

12‑hour day shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM, minimum of 36 hours per week (guaranteed). Contract length 13 weeks with potential for up to 48 hours per week upon request.
