Travel Nurse RN - Med Surg - $1,516 per week

About the Role

Fusion Medical Staffing-Nursing is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a 13-week assignment in Dothan, Alabama, starting on 09/14/2026. This role involves delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care in medical-surgical and telemetry units, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring high standards of patient safety and professional ethics.

Responsibilities

• Explain procedures and treatments to patients and families, addressing concerns and ensuring understanding
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in adherence to nursing standards
• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ conditions, documenting changes and reporting concerns to the care team
• Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures, assist physicians during treatments, and monitor patient responses
• Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients recovering from medical conditions or surgical procedures
• Document comprehensive patient information, including vital signs, medications, treatments, and care outcomes, in the medical record
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement individualized care plans
• Manage multiple patients efficiently, prioritizing care based on acuity and clinical needs
• Ensure infection control practices are strictly followed
• Advocate for patients’ needs and preferences, ensuring they are respected and integrated into the care plan
• Facilitate discharge planning, coordinating with patients, families, and external resources
• Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
• Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards

Requirements

• One year of recent Med Surg RN experience
• Valid RN license in compliance with Alabama state regulations
• Current BLS (AHA/ARC) Certification

Qualifications

• Preferred: NIHSS certification, ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification
• Other certifications and licenses may be required
• Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
• Proficiency in PC skills and ability to follow written/verbal instructions
• Physical abilities: remain stationary, move equipment (50-100 lbs), push, pull, and bend
• Mental requirements: cope with frequent public contact, meet deadlines under pressure, and maintain concentration to detail
• Sensory requirements: visual acuity and effective communication abilities
