Responsibilities
- Provide care for 5-6 patients in a Long Term Acute Care (LTAC) unit.
- Adjust and perform in a fast-paced environment with frequent admissions and discharges.
- Monitor and administer medications orally, subcutaneously, and through an IV.
- Educate patients and families on surgical processes and illness/injury management.
- Monitor and adjust specialized equipment, recording and interpreting electronic displays.
- Interpret telemetry readings and notify medical team members of irregularities.
- Perform all duties of a registered nurse, including starting IVs, drawing blood, and managing patient care from start to finish.
- Care for patients with pulmonary hypertension, respiratory failure, COPD, CHF, and A-Fib.
- Use computer equipment to monitor cardiac and other vital information.
Requirements
- Active RN License.
- Degree from an accredited nursing program.
- BLS & ACLS Certifications.
- Eighteen months of recent experience in a Long Term Acute Care setting.
- Experience with vents, trachs, drips, EG tubes, and reading tele-strips.
- Other requirements as determined by the client facility.
