About the role

Highly specialized travel nursing role in Soldotna, Alaska, involving individualized, goal-directed nursing care within the labor and delivery unit. The position requires clinical expertise in obstetric care, utilizing advanced monitoring and patient management skills to support maternal and neonatal health during hospital stays.

Responsibilities

  • Manage individualized labor and postpartum nursing care following departmental and hospital policies
  • Utilize Meditech, OBIX, Pyxis Supply Stations, and bedside fetal monitors
  • Perform procedures related to obstetric care and support neonatal stabilization
  • Adhere to nurse-to-patient ratios aligned with national standards based on labor and patient needs
  • Float to other units/departments as required

Requirements

  • Active Alaska state Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Minimum of 2 years recent Labor and Delivery (LDRP) experience
  • Certifications: Advanced Fetal Monitoring, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), BLS, and STABLE
  • COVID vaccination required

Schedule

  • 12-hour night shifts
  • On call as needed
  • Minimum of 36 hours per week

Unit Details

  • 4 Labor, Delivery, Postpartum (LDRP) beds
  • 5 Nursery/Postpartum beds
  • 3-day Meditech and OBIX training, followed by unit-specific orientation
  • RN required to complete medication testing on-site within the first two weeks
  • Local placements allowed; may call off up to 24 hours in a 13-week contract without penalty
