Job Summary
A registered nurse specializing in Postpartum Floor care is sought for a facility located in Tacoma, Washington. The position involves providing high-quality nursing care in a postpartum and labor and delivery unit with a focus on newborn transition and post-delivery management. This role supports patient recovery and safety during the critical postpartum period, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and patient comfort.
Job Details
- Shift: Nights, with a schedule of 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed
- Minimum Hours Per Week: 36 hours
Required Qualifications
- Active BLS certification
- Covid-19 vaccine
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in postpartum or labor and delivery nursing
- Valid license to submit
- Willingness to wait for licensure validation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with newborn transition
- Magnesium management
- Titrating drips
Responsibilities
- Managing antepartum/high-risk beds, postpartum and triage beds
- Support for high-acuity patients such as those with preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, high BMI, multiples, substance abuse, and other obstetric conditions
- Monitoring of electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) systems
- Collaborating with OB/neonatologists, advanced practice providers, and in-house specialists
- Ensuring accurate charting using EPIC system
- Performing postpartum assessments and patient education
- Responding to clinical emergencies as needed
Additional Information
- The unit maintains a high standards of clinical care following AWHONN guidelines, with 24/7 in-house OB/neonatology and advanced practice providers
- RN titration of drips such as magnesium is required
- Tele monitoring is not utilized on this unit
- Unit-specific orientation will be provided
- Cancellation policy permits up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
- Scrubs are required or personal scrubs may be worn
- The unit uses Centricity Perinatal as the system for electronic fetal monitoring

Pay Package
The pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
