Travel Nurse RN - ICU - Intensive Care Unit - $3,095 per week

About the role

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN for an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) position in Rapid City, South Dakota. The assignment starts 11/09/2026, lasts 13 weeks, requires 48 hours per week on 12‑hour day shifts, and is a travel employment type.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and monitor patients in an Intensive Care Unit setting.
• Provide the most direct care to patients in life‑threatening situations.
• Document and provide physician‑directed care.
• Assess and implement patient care plans.
• Delegate to other care providers as appropriate.
• Provide education and support to patient families, possibly for long‑term care needs.
• Provide basic bedside care.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions.
• Order and evaluate diagnostic tests.
• Take samples for lab work, order corresponding lab work and interpret reports.
• Monitor and adjust specialized equipment, and interpret and record electronic displays.
• Ensure proper placement and functioning of catheters, leads and tubing.
• Communicate patients' conditions to family members.

Requirements

• 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience.
• Current ACLS, BLS, NIH, and TNCC certifications (additional certifications may be required before assignment).
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods; bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty.
• Ability to lift 20 pounds easily; moving/lifting patients may require up to 50 pounds.
• Tolerance for exposure to chemicals or infectious diseases and ability to care for patients who may be confused, agitated, or uncooperative.

Pay

Pay package is based on 12‑hour shifts and 48 hours per week (subject to confirmation).
