About the role
This position involves providing comprehensive nursing care for critically ill patients within a healthcare facility. The role encompasses assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, ensuring adherence to professional standards and organizational policies.
The ICU RN assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care of critically ill patients according to established policies and professional standards. The position is responsible for the quality of nursing services delivered and utilizes specialized knowledge and judgment to support patient needs across physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, and cultural domains. It involves formulation and revision of care plans, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, supervising nursing activities, and ensuring accurate documentation. The RN may also participate in research activities and contribute to improving patient outcomes through professional development and leadership.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care of critically ill patients
- Formulate and revise care plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Supervise nursing activities and ensure accurate documentation
- Provide specialized care addressing physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, and cultural needs
- Participate in research activities and professional development to improve patient outcomes
Requirements
- Current, valid RN license in the state of practice, or temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure
- BLS certification
- 0 years of experience required, with experience in an acute care hospital setting within the past 12 months in a relevant specialty area
- Ability to work day shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum 36 hours per week
- Possess applicable fingerprint clearance cards as per state and facility policies
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
- Professional certification related to critical care
- Additional education and experience in acute care settings
