About the role
The Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is a large, academic unit with 40 beds, serving over 70,000 patients annually. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5. You will care for patients with chest pain, shortness of breath, abdominal pain, STEMI, stroke, and trauma.
Responsibilities
- Moderate and deep sedation
- Central venous line insertion
- Laceration repair
- Traction
- BIPAP and ventilator management
- Drips (e.g., levophed, neo synephrine, esmolol, nitroglycerin, dopamine, dobutamine)
- Pacing
- Cardiac monitoring
- Chemical restraints
- NIH Stroke Scale certification and tele interpretation
Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) with at least 18 months of ER RN experience within the last 3 years
- Previous travel assignment experience
- Previous Level I Trauma ER experience
- BLS-AHA, ACLS-AHA, PALS-AHA certifications
- TNCC and NIH Stroke Scale certifications
- In compliance with artificial nail policy
- Holidays, weekends, and floating may be required
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
Preferred Qualifications
- Compact RN License in-hand
- EPIC EMR experience

Pay
Pay Rate: $3103.00 - $3262.00 per week (based on 12-hour shifts and 48 hours per week, subject to confirmation).
