About the role
We are seeking a travel nurse RN for the Emergency Department at Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina. This role involves working in a high-volume, Level 2 trauma center and comprehensive stroke center with over 100,000 ED visits annually.
Unit Specifics
- Number of Beds: 101
- Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1 (medical), up to 7:1 on ED behavioral holds
- Unit staffing includes techs (cardiac monitoring unit, internal processing area, triage) and unit clerks (days and nights)
- Equipment: Baxter pumps, GE monitors
- Documentation system: Cerner
- Scheduling requirements: Every other weekend; no block scheduling; must meet department needs
- Floating policy: No floating outside the ED, but must be open to floating to all sections within the ED
- Patient Experience requirements: AIDET, respectful behavior, patient experience focus for each patient, boards updated with information, and patient updates throughout visit
Hospital Specifics
- Certifications required before start date: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, NIHSS
- ENPC certification required within 90 days of hire
Requirements
- 2 years’ experience in a Level 2 trauma center and comprehensive stroke center
- Experience in a high-volume ED (>100,000 visits)
- 2 years’ nursing experience with at least 1 year in an ER setting
- Teamwork mentality with ability to coach and give real-time feedback
- Flexibility to work in all areas of the ED
- Previous HCA experience preferred
