About the role

Emergency Room (ER) Nursing opportunity in a high-volume, diverse care setting. The position involves providing acute care to a variety of patients, including trauma, stroke, orthopedic injuries, and psychiatric cases. This role requires experienced professionals capable of managing complex patient needs while working in a fast-paced environment.

Schedule

  • 12-hour shifts, evenings (7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM, or 2:00 PM to 2:00 AM)
  • Shifts scheduled 30-45 days in advance
  • 36 hours per week
  • Duration: 13 weeks

Responsibilities

The Emergency Department has 15 beds, including a 6-bed fast track open from 9 AM to 10 PM. Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 to 4, depending on patient acuity. The team includes charge nurses, nurse aides, and a unit secretary on duty 24/7. The unit commonly cares for stroke, abdominal pain, orthopedic injuries, psychiatric, and various other acute conditions.

  • Manage complex patient needs, including trauma, stroke, and psychiatric cases

Requirements

  • Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and COVID vaccine certification
  • Minimum of 3 years of emergency room nursing experience in a level III trauma center or higher
  • Valid nursing license to practice
  • 3-5 years of experience in emergency care

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Cerner (First Net) electronic charting system
  • Level III trauma experience or above
