Travel Nurse RN - ED - Emergency Department - $1,960 per week

About the Role

Prime Time Healthcare Nursing is seeking a travel nurse RN for the Emergency Department (ED) in Louisville, Kentucky. The role starts on 10/26/2026, with a 13-week duration and 36 hours per week on a 12-hour day shift.

Responsibilities

• Manage a 31-bed Emergency Department with approximately 78 patients per day, ranging from infants to geriatrics.
• Stabilize and transfer pediatric patients requiring inpatient intervention.
• Handle patient ratios of 1:4–1:5.
• Perform triage, rapid assessment, IV starts, Foley and NG tube insertion, NIHSS/neuro assessments, and manage critical patients, including codes.
• Initiate and titrate pressors, cardiac drips, sedation, and insulin.
• Administer moderate sedation using Versed, fentanyl, and ketamine.
• Manage hyperthermia/hypothermia and assist with bedside procedures.
• Serve as an experienced ER resource and subject-matter expert.

• STEMI/NSTEMI and chest pain
• Heart failure
• Sepsis and DKA
• Respiratory failure
• GI bleeds
• Renal/liver failure
• Behavioral health and CIWA
• VAD patients
• Post-transplant complications
• Trauma (MVA, GSW, falls, head injuries)

Schedule

• Days: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
• Every 3rd weekend
• No call
• Holiday rotation based on need
• Schedule made in 6-week increments
• Block scheduling not guaranteed
• RTO requires manager approval

Floating

No floating required.

Support / Equipment

• 24/7 Charge RN, ER physicians/midlevels, RT, Hospitalist, and Intensivist
• Management available 24/7 if needed
• CT/X-ray within the ED
• Ultrasound-capable RNs
• Plum IV pumps
• Omnicell
• Philips monitors
• VAD equipment
• ER staff perform their own phlebotomy

Requirements

• 2+ years ER RN experience (any trauma level)
• Prior travel experience required – no first-time travelers
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS
• UofL-specific Vistelar training
