Travel Nurse RN - CVOR - $3,457 per week

Travel CVOR RN position in Johnson City, NY. Start date: 11/08/2026. Duration: 13 weeks. 40 hours/week, four 10‑hour day shifts (Mon–Fri, 7:00 AM–5:30 PM). On‑call: 2–3 weekday call shifts/week (5:30 PM–6:00 AM) and every other weekend (24‑hr Sat + 24‑hr Sun). May float to General OR when cardiac volume is low.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Cardiovascular Operating Room Registered Nurse (CVOR RN) to join our surgical team and provide specialized nursing care to patients undergoing cardiovascular surgical procedures. The ideal candidate must have prior experience in a Cardiovascular Operating Room and be comfortable supporting complex cardiac surgeries in a fast‑paced surgical environment. The CVOR RN will collaborate closely with cardiovascular surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety, maintain a sterile surgical environment, and deliver high‑quality perioperative care. When cardiac surgical volume is low, the selected candidate may be asked to support general operating room cases.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing cardiovascular and cardiac surgical procedures.
• Prepare the operating room, surgical instruments, specialized equipment, and supplies before procedures.
• Assist the surgical team during cardiovascular operations while maintaining strict sterile technique.
• Monitor patient safety and ensure compliance with established surgical protocols.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and other members of the surgical team throughout the perioperative process.
• Perform surgical counts and maintain accurate documentation in accordance with facility policies.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and respond promptly to changes during procedures.
• Ensure proper handling of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Participate in on‑call coverage, including overnight and weekend call assignments.
• Provide nursing support for general OR procedures when required based on cardiac surgical volume.
• Follow infection prevention standards and all applicable patient safety guidelines.

Requirements

• Previous experience working in a Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) is required.
• Strong knowledge of cardiovascular surgical procedures and perioperative nursing practices.
• Ability to work effectively in a high‑acuity surgical environment.
• Strong communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and clinical judgment skills.
• Willingness to support general OR cases when cardiac surgical volume is low.
• Ability to meet weekday, overnight call, and weekend call requirements.

Work Schedule & On‑Call

Regular schedule: Four 10‑hour shifts, Monday through Friday. Standard shift: 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM. The specific four working days will be determined by the facility.

On‑call responsibilities: Approximately 2–3 call shifts per week. Weekday call generally runs from 5:30 PM to 6:00 AM, spanning the period between scheduled shifts. Every other weekend requires 24‑hour call coverage on Saturday and 24‑hour call coverage on Sunday. Candidates must be available to respond to call‑ins according to facility requirements.
