About the role

Medical Solutions is seeking a travel nurse RN CVICU for a 13-week assignment in Peoria, Illinois.

Responsibilities

  • Work 36 hours per week, 12-hour shifts (7a-7p or 7p-7a)
  • Perform duties in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
  • Titrate multiple drips including dopamine, dobutamine, levophed, epi, neo, vasopressin, cleviprex, propofol, fentanyl, versed, insulin, heparin, esmolol
  • Interpret patient strips and read tele/monitor strips
  • Utilize ventilators, CPAP, BPAP, heated high flow, nitric oxide
  • Work with respiratory therapists 24/7
  • Work with CVAPNs/PAs and CCSAPNs/PA majority of times, but do have providers on call
  • Work with a house supervisor and charge nurses 24/7
  • Manage ratios of 1:12-1:15, sometimes more depending on staffing availability
  • Work weekends every other weekend, including Saturdays and Sundays
  • Work holidays every other holiday
  • Float to every level of care
  • Follow protocols and orders as written

Requirements

  • BLS, ACLS preferred, CCRN a plus
  • Experience with IABPs, Impellas, Swan Ganz, ECMO, external pacemakers, CRRT lines, PICC, midlines, CVC, swans, arterial lines (radial and femoral)
  • Proficient in cardiovascular ICU components with the exception of immediate post op, VAD and transplant
  • Utilize swans, CVC, and art lines daily on majority of patients
  • Utilize temporary pacemakers on a lot of patients
  • Utilize EP patients
  • Utilize IABPs
  • Titrate multiple drips frequently
  • Utilize ventilators, utilize CPAP, BPAP, heated high flow, nitric oxide
  • Utilize respiratory therapists 24/7

Qualifications

  • At least 2 solid years of CVICU experience
  • Strong assessment skills, critical thinking, communication, organization, teamwork, compassion, ability to follow protocols and orders as written, motivation, ability to work in a fast paced, high stress environment, compassion, time management, positive attitude and behavior

Pay

Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.

Schedule

Shifts are 12hrs (7a-7p or 7p-7a). It is not self scheduling for non AHU Mission Partners, no blocking.

Additional Notes

Our unit needs someone who is proficient in all cardiovascular ICU components with the exception of immediate post op (would be a bonus if they did), VAD and transplant. We utilize swans, CVC, and art lines daily on majority of our patients. We utilize temporary pacemakers on a lot of our patients. We get multiple EP patients. We have IABPs. We titrate multiple drips frequently. We have a lot of ventilated patients. All of these items could be on one patient and sometimes two of these in one assignment.
