Job Summary
The ICU Cardiovascular Specialty Nurse is responsible for providing advanced patient care in a high-acuity Unit dedicated to open heart, complex thoracic, and vascular patients. This position requires managing stabilizations and supporting complex cardiac procedures, utilizing specialized equipment and maintaining patient safety and clinical standards.
Job Details
- Shift: 12-hour shifts, with schedules including day and night options.
- Schedule: Shifts are from 06:30 to 18:30 and 18:30 to 06:30; minimum of 36 hours per week.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Nebraska, with a minimum of 2 years of experience working with cardiovascular patient populations;
- Certifications include BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cardiac support devices like Impella, IABP, ECMO, CRRT, and performing titratable drips such as vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics.
Additional Information
- The unit maintains a ratio of 1:1 nurse to patient, with nurse aides or patient care technicians available.
- The hospitalist and/or intensivist are on-site 24/7.
- RNs are expected to read and interpret telemetry strips and troubleshoot equipment like vents, Cpap, BiPap, and high-flow oxygen devices.
- The department supports complex cases from cath labs, structural heart programs, and emergency rooms.
- The work environment includes in-house ICU support with advanced monitoring and equipment, requiring RN proficiency in reading telemetry.

Pay Package
The pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
