Travel Nurse RN - CVICU - $1,926 per week

About the role

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a travel nurse RN for a CVICU position in Louisville, Kentucky. The position is for 9 weeks starting August 31, 2026, with 36 hours per week and 12-hour shifts.

Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor critically ill patients, recognizing and responding to subtle changes in patient condition
• Administer complex medications and treatments in accordance with approved critical care nursing techniques
• Operate and manage advanced life support equipment
• Ensure patient safety and comfort in high-acuity ICU environments, addressing physical and emotional needs
• Record significant conditions, reactions, and interventions, notifying the appropriate provider of changes in patient status
• Accurately document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the medical record in a timely manner to ensure continuity of care and compliance with regulatory standards
• Provide education to patients and families regarding the ICU environment, treatments, and recovery expectations
• Communicate closely with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient care
• Maintain proficiency in critical care procedures and technologies through ongoing education and training
• Adhere to strict infection control protocols to protect immunocompromised patients and reduce risks
• Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance ICU patient outcomes and operational efficiency
• Perform other duties as assigned within scope
• Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards

Requirements

• One year of recent experience as a CVICU RN
• Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
• Current BLS (AHA/ARC) and ACLS (AHA/ARC) certifications
• Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification (preferred)
• TNCC, NIHSS certification (may be required for this position)
• Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills. They should be able to read, write, and communicate in the English language, read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficient in PC skills. Physical abilities include remaining in a stationary position, moving about, moving equipment (50-100 lbs), pushing, pulling, and bending. Interpersonal skills require working effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism. Technical/motor skills involve grasping, performing fine manipulation, pushing/pulling, and moving about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment. Mental requirements include coping with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure, working under close supervision occasionally, and working without assistance from other personnel. Sensory requirements include possessing visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate.
