Responsibilities
- Greet and prepare patients for exams and procedures.
- Conduct patient intake, including reviewing medical history and current symptoms.
- Perform and document vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration).
- Administer medications and injections as prescribed.
- Absorb minor procedures under physician supervision.
- Provide wound care, suture removal, and dressing changes.
- Perform diagnostic tests such as ECGs, strep/flu/COVID swabs, and INR checks.
- Draw blood and collect specimens for lab testing (e.g., urine, throat swabs).
- Provide coverage as needed for other medical staff including reception, phones, rooming, and medical chaperone.
- Educate patients on medications, treatments, and lifestyle modifications.
- Provide discharge instructions and follow-up care guidance.
- Answer patient questions via phone or patient portal (e.g., MyChart).
- Support chronic disease management through education and monitoring.
- Accurately document all care provided in the electronic health record (e.g., Epic).
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Complete insurance forms and respond to third-party inquiries as needed.
- Cook up coordination and workflow support.
- Prepare charts and review labs/imaging prior to patient visits.
- Cook up referrals and prior authorizations for imaging, specialists, and procedures.
- Communicate with labs (e.g., LabCorp) regarding specimens and results.
- Support Medical Assistants (MAs) when needed to ensure smooth clinic flow.
- Monitor and record temperatures for medication storage (e.g., vaccine refrigerators).
- Ensure infection control protocols are followed.
- Maintain and troubleshoot medical equipment.
- Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with best practices.
Requirements
- 40 hours per week, 8 hours shifts, days.
- Must have clinic experience.
- Must pass skills assessments.
- Must have EPIC skills.
- Must be a self-starter with a passion for healthcare.
- Must be able to work M-F 8:30AM-5pm, CLOSED FOR LUNCH 12-1:30pm.
