About the role
Join the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute team at WVU Medicine JW Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV! We are seeking an experienced Stepdown RN for a high-acuity Neuro Stepdown and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU). This is an excellent opportunity to work with complex neurological cases in a highly supported, top-tier academic medical center.
- Unit Profile: 10 East (Neuro Stepdown & EMU). Cares for high-acuity neuro patients, strokes, seizures, and craniotomies.
- Ratios: 1:3 in Stepdown; 1:5-6 in EMU.
- Support: 24/7 Charge Nurse, dedicated RTs, and 4 Nurse Aides per shift.
- Shift: 12-hour Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), including an every-other-weekend and holiday rotation.
- Attire: Royal Blue scrubs.
- Flexibility: Must be willing to float to other related units (7E, 7W, 7NE, or 10W) as needed.
Requirements
- Experience: Strong Neuroscience stepdown background required. Must have experience caring for stroke patients and utilizing Epic EMR.
- Certifications: Active BLS and NIHSS must be in-hand to apply (ACLS preferred).
- Radius & Eligibility Policy: Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility. Former WVU perm staff or long-term travelers must have a 2-year separation to be eligible.
- Vaccine Policy: COVID-19 vaccination required (council-approved exemptions accepted).
