Unit Details

• 20-bed Neuro Unit (14 floor beds)
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5–6
• Charge Nurse available 24/7
• Three Nurse Aides per shift (1:7–10)
• Patient Population: Stroke, Seizures, Deep Brain Stimulator (DBS) patients, Neurological disorders, Surgical and post-operative spine patients

Clinical Skills

• Comprehensive neurological assessments
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• G-tube care
• Telemetry patient care
• EPIC documentation
• Common drips include: Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Nipride, Ketamine, Lasix, Bumex, Insulin

Schedule

• Flexible with scheduling
• Up to three consecutive shifts may be accommodated based on staffing needs
• Holiday rotation required
• Weekend rotation required
• Floating may float to: 7E, 7W, 7NE, 10E, Other inpatient units as needed

Requirements

• Active RN License
• BLS required
• NIHSS required at time of submission
• AACLS preferred
• Recent EPIC experience required
• Strong Neuro nursing experience required
• Experience with G-tube management required
