About the role
Registered Nurse (RN) Medical Surgical Floor position in Johnson City, NY. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to a diverse patient population specializing in neuroscience, cardiovascular, and post-surgical care. The RN is responsible for ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care while adhering to the organization's standards and policies.
The role involves caring for patients with strokes, traumatic brain injuries, craniotomies/cranioplasties, back surgeries, VP/LP shunts, seizures, syncope, hyper/hypotension, and vascular surgeries. Equipment used includes Bard IV pumps, GE cardiac monitor, EPCD, sit-to-stand tool, Hoyer, transfer boards, and seizure pads.
Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts
- 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients specializing in neuroscience, cardiovascular, and post-surgical care
- Manage care for patients with conditions such as strokes, traumatic brain injuries, craniotomies, back surgeries, and vascular surgeries
- Operate and monitor medical equipment including Bard IV pumps, GE cardiac monitors, and seizure pads
Requirements
- Current NYS RN License
- BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross)
- 6 months to 3 years of nursing (RN) experience
- Experience with telemetry patients, cardiac medications, reading rhythm strips, stroke care, and managing post-stroke patients
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting
- Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing
- Professional certification in a related nursing specialty such as ACLS, PALS, or TNCC
- EPIC proficiency
