Job Summary

Medical Surgical Nurse specializing in general medical, surgical, and orthopedics units is needed at our healthcare facility in Lincoln, Nebraska. This 12-hour night shift position involves working on a unit with 42 beds, patient ratios of approximately 1:5-6, and a focus on efficient patient care delivery. The role requires adherence to specific policies and procedures to ensure quality nursing practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care on a 42-bed unit with patient ratios of approximately 1:5-6 (staff take a 1:6 ratio at least once a week)
• Work 12-hour night shifts (1830-0700) with a minimum of 36 hours per week
• Provide weekend and holiday coverage as needed
• Complete one week of classroom training plus two 12-hour shifts on the floor for orientation
• Pass a pass/fail exam during orientation with a 90% passing criterion

Required Qualifications

• BLS Certification
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in medical-surgical nursing
• Licensed to submit in the state of Nebraska
• Driver's license required at submittal for location verification
• No artificial nails permitted

Unit Details

• Patient Population: Medical, surgical, and orthopedics patients
• Team Structure: Charge nurse present on each shift; charge nurses may take assignments
• Additional Staffing: Nursing assistants/patient care techs at ratios of 1:10-12
• Equipment and Technology: RT available 24 hours on the unit; tele monitor systems present on-site with centralized tele station
• Scrubs provided in navy blue
• Radius rule of 50 miles applies; candidates must not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with common health care organizations
• RTO requests limited to 7 days or less per 13-week contract
• Cancellation policy allows up to 4 shifts canceled per 13-week assignment
• BSN not required

Start Date: August 3, 2026. Duration: 13 weeks. Shift: 12 hours, nights. Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
