Job Summary
Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical Surgical (MS) on a neuro-focused unit located in Louisville, Kentucky. This position involves providing care for patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI), spinal cord injury (SCI), strokes (CVA), amputees, burns, pediatric and multi-trauma cases, pneumonia, tunneled catheters, and post-cranieotomies with shunts. The nurse will be responsible for implementing complex care procedures in a fast-paced environment, working 12-hour shifts in a 6-week schedule cycle.
Job Details
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, from 0630-1900 and 1830-0700, with a 6-week rotating schedule
- Technology/Equipment: Cerner electronic medical records (EMR), Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing system
- Orientation: Monday online, Tuesday in-person NVCI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention), Wednesday in-person orientation; rest of the week scheduled accordingly
Required Qualifications
- Valid nursing license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Minimum of 1 year of experience, including at least 6 months in neuro care
- Located in Kentucky
- Willing to accept first-time travelers with manager approval
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with tracheostomy care, ventilators, IVs, PICC lines, central lines, wound care, bowel programs, TPN, drains/tubes, pulmonary patients with trachs, laryngectomies, G-tubes/Peg-tubes, vascular access devices (VADs)
Support within the Department
- Phlebotomy responsibilities
- RN oversight; PCA/CNA ratio of 1:7-8
- Staff work in a collaborative environment with unit secretaries, physicians, nurse practitioners, residents, physical/occupational/speech therapists; all staff have scope to float within department policies

Pay Package
The pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
