Job Summary

A Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical Surgical (Med/Surg) care is sought for a trauma Medical Surgical unit located in Nashville, Tennessee. This role involves providing attentive and compassionate patient care within a busy trauma med/surg environment. Candidates are required to bring their RN license on the first day.

Job Details

• Schedule: 3 12-hour shifts per week; 2 weekends (4 shifts) per 4-week schedule

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• BLS certification
• Ability to prioritize care
• Multitask
• Start IVs
• Perform basic wound care
• Maintain surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes
• Meditech electronic medical record experience
• No minimum years of experience required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Medical Surgical (Med/Surg) units
• Trauma experience
• Certification in comprehensive stroke or ACS verified Level II trauma center
• Certified chest pain center

Additional Information

• The unit has tech support on day and night shifts, including a unit secretary from 7 am to 7 pm.
• Equipment used includes IV pumps, telemetry monitors, sequential compression devices (SCDs), continuous pulse oximetry devices, feeding pumps, PCA, EKG machines, bladder scanners, and iMobile communication technology.
• The unit emphasizes compassionate patient care with bedside shift reports and family inclusion in care plans.
• Float rotation may be required based on staffing needs, following a rotation when multiple contract labor staff are scheduled.

Pay Package

The pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
