Travel Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse - $2,266 per week

Travel nurse RN Med Surg position in Albany, New York. 13‑week assignment, 36 hours per week, 12‑hour night shifts. Employment type: travel.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical‑surgical nursing care on units such as Med Surg/Medicine E3, Med Surg/Medicine E4, Med Surg FLOAT POOL, and Med Surg/Ortho.
• Manage equipment including PCA pumps, IV pumps, Kangaroo pumps, wound vacs, chest tubes, BiPAP, blood pressure machines, PAPRs, telemetry monitoring, pulse oximeters, WOWs, EKG monitoring, advanced neuro assessments, traction, NG tubes, trach collars, feeding pumps, Vioptix, suction, medical air, O2, mini infusers.
• Document using Cerner Soarian, Soarian documentation system, MAK medication system, Sorian, HEV (bed mgmt.), Pyxis, Vocera.
• Follow unit‑specific scheduling: e.g., three 12‑hour shifts plus every third weekend (E3); every other weekend, every other Friday, and every other holiday (E4); every other weekend with optional weekend block (FLOAT POOL); all shifts (Ortho).
• Float to areas with competency as needed, working with interdisciplinary teams (PA, NP, residents, attending MDs, fellows, PCA, ASA).
• Maintain patient experience standards: at least one year of general medicine/surgery experience; flexibility with changing assignments; willingness to learn new skills; ability to float to 22 different medical/surgical units.

Requirements

• Active RN license.
• BLS certification required.
• Medical‑Surgical certification encouraged.
• Minimum one year of recent general Medicine/Surgery unit experience.
• Ability to float to multiple units and adapt to changing assignments.

Qualifications

• RN with Med Surg specialty.
• Experience with the equipment and documentation systems listed above.
