Travel Medical-Surgical Oncology RN - $2,145 per week

Job Summary

The Medical Surgical Oncology Floor Registered Nurse (RN) position is located in Bridgeport, West Virginia. This role involves providing care for general medical-surgical patients, including post-operative and oncology patients, in a high-acuity hospital environment. The RN will be responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care during 12-hour shifts, contributing to patient recovery and safety.

Job Details

• Shift: 12-hour shifts (day and night)
• Schedule: 36 hours per week, with shifts scheduled accordingly

Required Qualifications

• BLS certification through the American Heart Association
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience
• Valid RN license
• Able to work in the United States

Common Diagnoses/Types of Patients

• General MedSurg patients
• Post-operative procedures such as laparoscopic cholecystectomy and appendectomy
• Oncology patients with complications (neutropenic precautions, pneumonia, infections)
• Patients with chest tubes including PleurX chest tubes
• Occasional psychiatric patients requiring one-on-one sitters

Ratios

• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6

Certifications

• BLS required
• ACLS preferred
• ONC (Oncology Certified Nurse) or ONCC (Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation) certification would be a plus

Medication & Equipment

• RT (Respiratory Therapist) manages CPAP and BiPAP
• Nurses manage oxygen levels, monitor telemetry
• Heparin drips titrated by RN
• No cardiac drips

Telemetry

• Phillips monitors with a central monitor tech
• RNs need to be able to read and interpret strips

Charge Nurse/House Supervisor

• Charge nurse available 24/7
• Does not take patient assignment during day shift but does at night

Nurse Aides

• 3 CNAs on day and night shifts
• May assist with blood sugar monitoring
