Travel Medical-Surgical Oncology RN - $2,115 per week

About the role

Cross Country Nurses is seeking a travel nurse RN for a Hematology / Oncology Med Surg position in Springfield, Illinois. This role involves caring for adult and geriatric patients with oncology diagnoses on a Medical Surgical Oncology Floor in a Level I trauma acute care hospital. Responsibilities include administering chemotherapy, managing central lines, and monitoring patient conditions while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team.

Schedule

3x12 daily shifts from 7:15 AM to 6:45 PM, consistently scheduled for 36 hours weekly. Assignment duration: 13 weeks, starting 09/14/2026 and ending 12/14/2026. Must be available to work every other weekend and two major holidays. Willingness to float within scope to meet facility demands and adhere to RTO restrictions of no more than 5 days.

Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapy and manage central lines
• Monitor patient conditions and recognize abnormal lab values
• Provide comprehensive oncology care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, including pharmacy, physical therapy, and social services
• Handle cytotoxic drugs, manage ports, and monitor for chemotherapy side effects

Requirements

• Valid Illinois registered nurse license in active application process
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
• American Heart Association BLS certification
• Current clinical skills in IV therapy, port management, and chemotherapy administration
• Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) preferred but not required
• Willingness to float within scope and work every other weekend

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Cerner charting system
• Inpatient oncology experience
• Trauma Level I experience
• Community hospital experience
• OCN or ONS/ONCC certification

Pay package is based on 12-hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
