This position requires expertise in managing diverse patient needs, specifically focusing on pulmonary conditions. Shift Details Night shifts: 4 shifts of 12 hours, totaling 48 hours per week (36 hours per week available upon request). Holiday rotation required; contractors must be available to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming Winter holidays unless the unit is closed. Weekend requirements: every other weekend or every third weekend, depending on staffing and census. Unit Information Patient types: Primarily pulmonary and medical-surgical patients. Bed size: 23 beds. Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-6. Common therapies: Heparin drips. Qualifications Minimum of 24 months of recent experience in Medical-Surgical nursing is required. Experience with pulmonary patient care is essential. Familiarity with caring for ventilated patients, including bi-pap and trach care, is highly preferred. Experience caring for COVID-19 positive patients may be necessary. Level II trauma experience is required; Level I trauma experience is highly preferred. First-time travelers will be considered if they meet the 2+ years of Med Surg experience requirement. Licensure and Certifications Active Iowa nursing license or a compact/multistate license is required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
