Travel Med Surg RN - $1,949 per week

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Asheville, North Carolina. The position is for a Medical Surgical RN with 1-2 years recent acute care experience. Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments and prioritize data collection based on patients' immediate conditions or needs.
• Perform ongoing assessments and appropriate treatments as ordered by a physician.
• Document patient findings and provide education and support to patients' families.
• Provide bedside care for a variety of patients, including pre- and post-op patients.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Prepare equipment and aid physician during examination and treatment of patient.
• Educate patients on surgical procedures.
• Participate in discharge planning and initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician.
• Stand and walk for long periods of time, bend, lean and stoop without difficulty.
• Easily lift 20 pounds; moving or lifting patients may require lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Work in a fast-paced environment treating patients that may be confused, agitated, and/or uncooperative.

Requirements

• ACLS certification
• BLS certification
• NIH certification
• Minimum 2 years recent acute care experience (1-2 years recent acute care experience)
• Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.
