The successful candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a medical-surgical unit, demonstrating advanced clinical skills and effective communication. Unit Information Number of Beds: 36 Patient Ratios: 1:6, occasional 1:7 during surge periods Unit Staffing: Unit Secretary (day shift only) and Licensed Nursing Assistants (LNAs) for both shifts Type of Equipment: Telemetry Documentation System: Meditech Expanse Scheduling Requirements: Three 12-hour shifts per week, every other weekend, and rotating holidays Floating Policy: Float to the same level of care Patient Experience Requirements: Bedside Shift Report, Hourly Safety Rounding, Personal Connections Qualifications Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a hospital setting required Active License: Must have an active nursing license at the time of submission Certifications: BLS and IV certification required Advanced Skills: IV certified and proficient in various medical-surgical procedures Responsibilities The Travel Med-Surg RN will be responsible for the following: Providing comprehensive nursing care to patients across the unit Administering medications and treatments as prescribed Performing various medical procedures, including: Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI) Wound care Drain management (chest tubes, Jackson-Pratt drains, etc.) Foley catheter insertion Central line dressing changes Telemetry monitoring Electrocardiograms (EKGs) as needed Collaborating effectively with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient care Engaging in continuous education and professional development Additional Information Self-scheduling options available, though leadership may communicate the need to balance schedules The unit promotes a positive working environment with a commitment to patient-centered care Opportunities for professional growth and recognition of achievements within the department Thrive Staffing Job ID #19364739.
