Travel Med Surg / Inpatient Rehab RN - $1,645 per week

About the role

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a 13‑week assignment in Roanoke, Virginia. The position requires 36 hours per week on 12‑hour night shifts. The ideal candidate will have 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments and prioritize data collection based on patients' immediate conditions or needs
• Perform ongoing assessments and provide appropriate treatments as ordered by a physician
• Document patient findings and provide education and support to patients' families
• Provide bedside care for a variety of patients, including pre‑ and post‑op patients
• Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medication; report any adverse reactions
• Change dressings, insert catheters, and start IVs
• Prepare equipment and assist the physician during examinations and treatments
• Educate patients on surgical procedures
• Participate in discharge planning and initiate patient education plans as prescribed by the physician

Requirements

• BLS certification
• 1‑2 years recent acute care experience
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods; bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty
• Ability to lift 20 pounds routinely, with occasional patient lifts up to 50 pounds
• Capable of working in a fast‑paced environment with patients who may be confused, agitated, or uncooperative
• Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment
