Primary Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care in various healthcare settings, focusing on basic nursing functions such as medication administration, vital sign monitoring, wound care, and patient education.
- Work as part of a healthcare team to ensure patients receive safe, compassionate, and effective care.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain Patient Health: Monitor and record patient vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration).
- Medication Administration: Administer prescribed medications via oral, topical, and injection routes.
- Wound Care: Perform basic wound care, dressing changes, and catheter care.
- Activities of Daily Living: Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, eating, mobility).
- Specimen Collection: Collect specimens for laboratory testing.
- Observation and Reporting: Observe and report changes in patient condition to supervising RN or physician.
Patient Monitoring and Assessment
- Health Assessments: Conduct routine health assessments and screenings.
- Response Monitoring: Monitor patient responses to treatments and medications.
- Complication Recognition: Recognize and report signs of complications or adverse reactions.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of patient care and observations.
- Diagnostic Support: Assist with diagnostic procedures and tests.
Medication Administration
- Preparation and Administration: Prepare and administer medications according to physician orders.
- Verification: Verify patient identity and medication accuracy using safety protocols.
- Monitoring: Monitor patients for medication side effects and therapeutic responses.
- Record Keeping: Maintain medication records and inventory.
- Education: Educate patients about medication purposes and side effects.
Patient Education and Support
- Health Education: Provide basic health education to patients and families.
- Self-Care Teaching: Teach patients about disease management and self-care techniques.
- Emotional Support: Offer emotional support and comfort to patients and families.
- Discharge Planning: Assist with discharge planning and follow-up care instructions.
- Infection Control: Promote patient safety and infection control practices.
Documentation and Communication
- Records Maintenance: Maintain detailed patient records and care plans.
- Intervention Documentation: Document all nursing interventions and patient responses.
- Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with healthcare team members.
- Shift Reports: Participate in shift reports and team meetings.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies.
Equipment and Supply Management
