About the role

Cross Country Nurses is seeking a registered nurse (RN) for a float pool position in a specialized respiratory-focused environment. The role involves working with vent-dependent, respiratory-focused patients in a Long Term Acute Care (LTAC) unit that supports complex medical cases beyond traditional medical-surgical settings. This is a travel nursing assignment in New Britain, Connecticut.

Schedule

  • 12-hour day shifts
  • Minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Duration: 13 weeks
  • Start Date: 10/12/2026

Responsibilities

  • Care for vent-dependent and respiratory-focused patients in a specialized unit
  • Perform procedures including IV starts, drips, blood administration, EKGs, medication titrations, glucose monitoring, wound care, suctioning, and central line management
  • Float to respiratory units based on weekly needs, particularly those with the highest demand (e.g., Respiratory Care Unit/Respiratory Step-Down Unit)
  • Adhere to specific patient care ratios outlined for the unit

Note: Nurses do not manage ventilators; respiratory therapists handle vents.

Requirements

  • Active RN license
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience
  • Experience with respiratory/vented patients strongly preferred
  • Prior travel experience preferred

  • Experience in Long Term Acute Care (LTAC) settings
  • Competency in respiratory patient care

Pay

Pay package is based on 12-hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.

Orientation will occur every Monday, with review and selection by the manager. Profiles must be comprehensive and easy to follow, highlighting respiratory/vented patient experience if applicable.
