Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse holds shift accountability for providing care during the antepartum, intrapartum, immediate postpartum, and neonatal phases of obstetrical care to Labor and Delivery patients by utilizing the Nursing Process in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act and hospital policy and procedures. Responsibilities include:

• Demonstrating critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in planning and delivering safe care
• Maintaining clinical competencies through continuing education
• Delegating patient care priorities based on the education and experience of available staff
• Providing direction and supervision of assigned personnel delivering patient care
• Providing nursing care to antepartum triage, active labor, postpartum (mom and baby), and special care nursery babies

Requirements

• 2+ years of L&D experience required
• ACLS, BLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications required
• Travel nursing position (employment type: travel)

Work Environment

• Unit scope: LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) including antepartum triage, active labor, postpartum care, and special care nursery
• EMR systems: MedHost (inpatient), GE Centricity (OB), Athena (Clinic)
• Number of beds in unit: 1 triage, 3 labor, 4 postpartum
• Patient ratio: 1:1 – 1:4
• 48-hour weekly guarantees are NOT approved
• Blocked scheduling CANNOT be approved
