This position focuses on providing compassionate and comprehensive care in a high-risk Labor and Delivery unit, where you will assist in the care of patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery. Key Responsibilities Provide nursing care to patients during labor, delivery, and recovery phases. Conduct assessments, monitor fetal heart rates, and provide education to expectant mothers. Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure safe delivery and continuity of care. Document patient care in the electronic health record system. Assist in managing high-risk pregnancies and emergencies when they arise. Qualifications Must possess a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska. 1 year of experience in Labor and Delivery preferred but first-time travelers are welcome to apply. Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate and Advanced, NRP. Charge experience is preferred or a willingness to train as a charge nurse is encouraged. Work Schedule Night shifts available - either 3x12 hours or 4x12 hours. Every other weekend commitment is required. Guaranteed hours of 60 hours per 2 weeks, with potential for cancellation of one 12-hour shift per 2 weeks. Unit Information The Labor and Delivery unit consists of: 10 OB Triage Rooms 10 Labor, Delivery, Recovery Rooms 3 Operating Room suites 4 Post Anesthesia Care Units Average daily deliveries are around 7, with the capacity to accommodate up to 14 patients, including inductions and high-risk antepartum cases. Additional Information Free parking available for staff. Scrubs are provided. Charting is performed using Epic.
